The small size and open architecture of the Momentum PLC product line make it extremely versatile in a variety of automation applications. Unity Momentum PLC is ideal for PC-based control, distributed control, distributed I/O and traditional standalone PLC control. The Momentum PLC product line includes I/O bases and communication adapters that are interchangeable and clamped together to provide optimal flexibility throughout the control system life cycle. The Modicon Unity Momentum CPU uses Ethernet as its communications backbone, providing all the performance benefits of real-time control. The open architecture of the Unity Momentum CPU makes it a universal controller for distributed I/O, compatible with many major fieldbus and control network environments. The integrated Ethernet port in the Unity Momentum CPU allows users to perform a variety of functions over Ethernet, including data acquisition, point-to-point communication, and I/O scanning. Embedded Web pages allow status and diagnostic information to be read from the processor using a standard Web browser.
Momentum Automation Platform products are modular. The communication adapter and processor adapter are designed to work as functional modules when plugged into the Momentum I/O dock. The I/O base requires some type of momentum adapter to be assembled on it before it can function properly. The I/O base can be installed in a compact standard housing and can be mounted on a DIN rail or panel in the cabinet. They read information from field sensing devices and control discrete and analog field execution devices.
Terminals and bus bars can be used with the base, so they can be used to support 2 -, 3 -, and 4-wire field devices. The power supply for I/O field devices and modules is connected by three 18-pin terminals and an optional 1, 2, or 3 bar bus bar. The terminal connector is electrically connected to the module; Optional bus bar no.
