It can be used to protect, measure and monitor system voltages in utility and industrial power systems.

The REU610 is a member of the 610 family of ABB's Relion® product family. The series includes protection devices for feeder protection, motor protection and conventional system voltage monitoring. The plug-in design is conducive to the debugging of the switchgear, and ensures the quick and safe insertion and removal of the plug-in.

The REU610 is used for distribution plant busbar overvoltage and low-voltage protection, feeder and transformer overvoltage protection, motor low-voltage protection, and capacitor bank protection and monitoring. In neutral ungrounded power systems, based on zero-sequence voltage measurement, the REU610 can also be used for non-selective ground fault protection. The REU610 is used to disconnect small power units from the public network during automatic bus voltage conversion initialization in substations, known as islanding.

The REU610 is designed for distribution substation busbar overvoltage and undervoltage protection, feeder and power transformer overvoltage protection, motor undervoltage protection, and capacitor bank protection and monitoring. In isolated neutral line power systems, it is also used for non-discriminatory ground fault protection based on residual voltage measurement. The REU610 is used to initialize automatic switching of substation busbars and disconnect small power units from public networks, known as silos.

The REU610 offers integrated protection with two stages of overvoltage protection, two stages of undervoltage protection, and two stages of residual overvoltage protection. In addition, the REU610 includes two mutually exclusive protection functions, a single stage negative phase sequence overvoltage protection and a single stage positive phase sequence undervoltage protection.
