The MVI56E-MNET is a Modbus TCP/IP client/server Enhanced networking interface module manufactured by Allen-Bradley encompass Partner company ProSoft technology. This module enables the ControlLogix system to act as a MODBUS master or MODBUS client over a TCP/IP connection.
MVI56E-MNET is backward compatible with earlier versions of MVI56E-MNET. This backward compatibility simplifies migration without changing or modifying existing relay ladder logic or the current configuration of existing legacy modules. It supports CIP connectivity, allowing remote configuration and diagnostic access across multiple bridge I/P and ControlNet networks via 1756-ENBT, 1756-EN2T Ethernet communication adapters and 1756-CNB ControlNet bridge modules. In addition, the module supports ProSoft Discovery Service (PDS) for automatically locating the MVI56E module and specifying a temporary IP address on the Ethernet network.
The device has an impact force of 30 grams when in operation and 50 grams when not in operation. It also has a vibration of 150 g at 5 to 10 Hz. MVI56E-MNET has a relative humidity of 5% to 95% and is non-condensing. The MVI56E-MNET is equipped with a lithium vanadium pentoxide battery that backs up a real-time clock and can also be used to back up a CMOS battery. The battery is expected to last for the lifetime of the module, and the module should be connected to a power source for at least 24 hours before the battery is fully charged. Using a fully charged battery, the battery will provide enough CMOS and real-time clock backup power for 21 days. The MVI56E-MNET supports an LED rolling diagnostic display with a 4-character alphanumeric display. The display provides standard English for status messages and is also used to display alarm data and the status of processor and network communications. The MVI56E-MNET also features a personality module, which is an industrial compact flash memory card that can store complete configurations and Ethernet Settings.
