The MVI56E-MCM is a Modbus master/slave enhanced network interface module designed for ControlLogix devices. The MVI56E-MCM enables master and/or slave connections between the ControlLogix processor and Modbus RTU/ASCII devices. The module has backward compatibility, making it compatible with older MVI56 modules. This allows the module to be replaced directly without changing the existing controller program. The MVI56E-MCM has a 10,000-word database that allows more data to be collected from other devices, thereby improving operational performance. This feature of the MVI56E-MCM module also allows users to take full advantage of the enhanced functionality and flexibility without incurring expensive reprogramming costs. The MVI56E-MCM module enables Modbus data to be displayed as I/O data in the processor by acting as an input/output module on the ControlLogix backplane. It also has a cross detection function.

The current backplane load of the MVI56E-MCM is 800 mA at 5 V DC and 3 mA at 24 V DC. The MVI56E-MCM has an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius or 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius or -40 to 180 degrees Fahrenheit. The MVI56E-MCM can withstand up to 30G of working shocks, 50G of non-working shocks, and 5G vibrations from 10 to 150 Hz. The recommended relative humidity range for modules is 5% to 95% (non-condensing). Thanks to the conformal coating, the module can also withstand harsh or corrosive conditions. The MVI56E-MCM module features a 10/100 MB Ethernet port that allows for network configuration and diagnostics using automatic cables. It also supports RIUP (removal and insertion of power). The module's 4-character, scroll, and alphanumeric LCD displays status and diagnostic data in English. The MVI56E-MCM can be run on local or remote racks.
