ProSoft MVI56-S3964R is a protocol module used as a Siemens 3964R network interface module. This protocol module is manufactured by ProSoft Technology for use in any ControlLogix processor (such as the 1756-L1, 1756-L1Mx, 1756-L55 or 1756-L6x) with a Siemens 3964R Communication features point-to-point communication between any other devices. Basically, it supports communication between Allen-Bradley PLC and Siemens equipment, as the 3964R protocol was invented by Siemens. Prosoft MVI56-S3964R essentially uses the peer-to-peer protocol, with read and write functions. It performs the BCC checksum to ensure the security of the transmission. The device communicates with the device using two independently operated RS-232 or RS-422 communication ports.

This module occupies one slot in the ControlLogix chassis and is compatible with the 1756 backplane. It consumes 800 mA at 5 volts DC or 3 mA at 24 volts DC.
