Prosoft MVI56-MBP is a Modbus Plus communication module. This module is a support device for Allen-Bradley's ControlLogix PLC. It helps connect these processors to other devices that use the Modbus Plus protocol. The MVI56-MBP supports both master and slave devices and can easily connect to Modicon processors and many other Modbus devices. It acts as a gateway between the ControlLogix backplane and the Modbus Plus network. The device has a memory of 4000 word registers and its main function is to exchange data between the PLC and Modbus Plus network in an asynchronous manner. In addition, the MVI56-MBP can be configured as a slave device for a PLC, which must read or write data from the module's memory. It is commonly used to connect two brands of industrial networks, for example, Allen-Bradley PLC to Modicon PLC, and relays, drivers, power monitoring devices, and similar Modbus Plus talking devices to the ControlLogix backplane.
