The GE Fanuc/VMIC VMIAC-5595 Gb/s Reflective Memory hub assembly is a hosted hub designed to operate with the GE Fanuc/VMIC 5565 family of reflective Memory real-time networking products. When a reflective memory hub detects a loss of signal or a loss of effective synchronization mode, it can automatically bypass the port, allowing other nodes in the network to remain operational. Because optical ports are implemented with small pluggable (SFP) transceivers, only the required ports need to be filled. The VMIAC-5595 SFP transceiver can be a combination of multi-mode (short range) or single dust (long range) transceivers. This feature allows for cost savings on small networks as well as system optimization. For larger networks, multiple VMIAC-5595 components can be cascaded, allowing a colocation center to have up to 256 nodes. Each port regenerates serial optical signals, eliminating insertion losses and cable attenuation issues. Signal regeneration also reduces jitter. Monitor and control the hub VMIAC-5595 from a distance can be configured as a 19-inch 1U rack-mounted case or desktop case. Universal power supplies allow operation under almost any international power supply standard.
The VMIAC-5595 automatically bypasses the port when it detects that a valid synchronization mode is missing. Three leds adjacent to each port provide a visual indication of the port's status. Additional status indications and modes of operation are available via serial or Ethernet ports.
The status information includes detecting the installed transceiver, detecting the signal (light), detecting the effective synchronization mode, and the port operating speed (2Gb/s). The control register allows channels to be bypassed based on the absence of a single valid synchronization mode or multiple synchronization modes. The bypass can also be simply based on the loss of the signal (light). In addition, you can manually force each port to be active or off-line regardless of the status indicator.
