CX5100 系列 DIN 导轨安装式无风扇嵌入式控制器搭载 Intel Atom™ 多核处理器。该系列有三种设备类型，每个类型的处理器、RAM 大小和外壳尺寸都不同。

CX5100 嵌入式控制器进一步完善了现有的基于第一代 Intel Atom™ 处理器的 CX5000 系列。相比较而言，新的处理器性能要高很多：乱序执行指令和 22 纳米制造工艺在提升时钟频率同时降低了功耗。

CX5100 系列配有固定数量的系统接口，基本型号中的系统接口数量与先前的 CX5000 系列相同。CX5100带有 2 个独立的 Gigabit 以太网端口和 4 个 USB 2.0 接口，它可以通过 DVI-D 接口连接倍福控制面板或商用 DVI 或 VGA 显示器。CX5100 系列与 CX5000 有同样紧凑的结构设计；但无法像 CX2000 系列一样在左侧扩展模块。我们可以根据需要在出厂前给 CX5100 的选项接口配置不同的接口：例如一个串口（RS232/RS422/RS485）或一个用于实现主站或从站功能的现场总线接口。如果选择配备 EtherCAT 从站选项接口，CX5100 就会在 EtherCAT 网络内变成一个可编程的分布式控制器。

CX5100 后面连接的 I/O 层既可以是总线端子模块组成，也可以是 EtherCAT 端子模块组成。CX5100 系列与所有第二代嵌入式控制器一样，可以自动识别插接的 I/O 型号。由于它集成了 EtherCAT 接口，因此也提供了更多不同的扩展选项：其它支持 EtherCAT 总线的主站/从站现场总线接口（PROFIBUS、CANopen、DeviceNet，等等）和通讯接口（RS232，RS422/RS485）以及其它信号类型都可以直接作为 EtherCAT 端子模块连接。

该系列控制器可以在 -25 …+60 °C 的宽温范围内运行，能够应用于极端气候环境。

操作系统可选择 Windows Embedded Compact 7，Embedded Standard 7 P，Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB 或 Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC。一张位于控制器外壳盖板下，可拆卸且更换方便的工业级 CFast 卡被用作启动和存储介质。CFast 卡可以替代硬盘，即操作系统以及 TwinCAT 和用户项目都存储在 CFast 卡中。这样，在维修时，可以快速更换硬件，或者只需更换 CFast 卡即可在现场更新软件。CX5100 系列内置的 1 秒钟 UPS 可确保在 CFast 卡上安全备份持久性应用数据。系统时间和日期通过一个可更换的电池进行缓存。

The CX5100 series DIN Rail mounted fanless embedded controller features an Intel Atom™ multi-core processor. The family comes in three device types, each with a different processor, RAM size, and housing size.

The CX5100 embedded controller complements the existing CX5000 series based on the first generation Intel Atom™ processor. In comparison, the new processor is much more powerful: out-of-order execution of instructions and a 22-nanometer manufacturing process increase the clock rate while reducing power consumption.

CX5120: Intel Atom® processor, 1.46 GHz, single-core

CX5130: Intel Atom® processor, 1.75 GHz, dual-core

CX5140: Intel Atom® processor, 1.91 GHz, quad-core

The CX5100 series has a fixed number of system ports, the number of system ports in the base model is the same as the previous CX5000 series. With 2 separate Gigabit Ethernet ports and 4 USB 2.0 ports, the CX5100 can be connected to a Beckhoff control panel or a commercial DVI or VGA display via a DVI-D port. The CX5100 series has the same compact design as the CX5000; However, it is not possible to extend the module on the left side like the CX2000 series. We can configure different interfaces for the CX5100 option interface according to the need before the factory: for example, a serial port (RS232/RS422/RS485) or a fieldbus interface for implementing the master or slave station function. If you choose to have an EtherCAT slave option interface, the CX5100 becomes a programmable distributed controller within the EtherCAT network.

The I/O layer connected to the CX5100 can be either the bus terminal module or the EtherCAT terminal module. The CX5100 series, like all second-generation embedded controllers, automatically recognizes the I/O model to which it is plugged. Due to its integration with the EtherCAT interface, it also offers many different extension options: Other master/slave fieldbus interfaces (PROFIBUS, CANopen, DeviceNet, etc.) and communication interfaces (RS232, RS422/RS485) and other signal types that support EtherCAT bus can be connected directly as EtherCAT terminal modules.

This series of controllers can be used in -25... Operating in a wide temperature range of +60 °C, it can be used in extreme climate environments.

The operating system can be Windows Embedded Compact 7, Embedded Standard 7 P, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2016 LTSB or Windows 10 IoT Enterprise 2019 LTSC. A removable and easily replaceable industrial grade CFast card located under the controller housing cover plate is used as the boot and storage media. The CFast card can replace the hard disk, i.e. the operating system as well as TwinCAT and user items are stored in the CFast card. In this way, the hardware can be quickly replaced during maintenance, or the software can be updated on the spot simply by replacing the CFast card. The CX5100 Series built-in 1-second UPS ensures secure backup of persistent application data on the CFast card. The system time and date are cached via a replaceable battery.

The CX5100 series embedded controllers are positioned a little lower in price and performance than the CX2000 series embedded controllers with multi-core processors. If machine and device programmers use the CX5100 powered by an Intel Atom® processor in combination with the TwinCAT 3 automation software suite, they can now also take full advantage of multi-core processor technology to optimally allocate different program segments to individual cores.
