The 2500-RBC Profibus Remote Base Controller (RBC) allows the CTI 2500 series or Simatic 505 I/O base controller to act as a slave node on a Profibus compliant DP I/O channel. The Remote Base controller is a direct replacement for the Siemens 505-6870 RBC. Please note that the 2500-RBC does not provide programming of the PLC through its serial port.

The 2500 Series Classic programmable controller system is designed for a wide range of applications, including those requiring discrete and analog control. The system is intended to be a compatible alternative to the Texas Instruments and Siemens 505 systems. Components include a CPU and support devices that provide an operator interface, communication, I/O control, and power. These systems perform the same functions as relays, static control, or plug-in logic control systems. They can detect state changes in input signals from devices such as buttons, limit switches, and analog sensors. Based on this information and executing the relay ladder logic (RLL) program stored in memory, the CPU generates an output signal to drive the motor starter, solenoid, indicator light, modulation control valve, etc. These signals are used to regulate the operation of various devices. A full range of discrete, analog, word, and intelligent I/O modules can be used to handle almost any input or output specification. These I/O modules are rugged plug-in devices capable of operating to specifications in harsh environments.
