The National Instruments PXI-2510 (Part number: 778572-10) is A 2 A, 68-channel PXI signal inserted into the switch module. The Fault insertion Unit (FIU) is the ideal solution for electronic reliability testing and hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) applications. The NI PXI-2510 is equipped with a set of feedthrough channels. With these feed through channels, users can short circuit or open one or more failed buses. The architecture can also be used to simulate interrupted or open connections, as well as battery voltage short circuits, pin to pin short circuits, and ground short circuits. When the NI PXI-2510 is controlled via LabVIEW Real-Time modules, it is the ideal solution for verifying FADEC, engine control units (ECUs) and a variety of other control systems.

With digital filtering disabled, the signal can be inserted into the switch module to recognize pulse widths as narrow as <150 ns. The NI PXI-2510 uses a non-latching electrical relay with a drive time of 1 ms (typical value) and a mechanical relay life expectancy of 1×108 times.
