The National Instruments GPIB-SPRC-B is a low-cost, high-performance IEEE 488 interface kit for the Sun SPARCstation family of workstations equipped with an S-bus slot. The NI TNT4882C ASIC makes SB-GPIB/ TNT the most high-performance IEEE 488.2 interface board. The TNT4882C chip performs the basic IEEE 488 speaker, listener, and controller functions required by the IEEE 488.2 standard. With TNT4882C and S-bus direct Virtual Memory access (DVMA) transmission, data transfer speeds can reach 1.4 MB/s using IEEE 488.1 3-wire handshake. TNT4882C can significantly improve the throughput of associated multi-tasking Solaris driver software. SB-GPIB/TNT also implements the high-speed GPIB protocol (HS488), so data transfer speeds can exceed 3.6 MB/s.
