The NI GPIB-130 bus extender eliminates the limitations of the IEEE 488 standard on cable length and device load, while requiring almost no desktop space. According to the IEEE 488 standard, the total cable length of the GPIB system cannot exceed 20 m, and the maximum number of devices is 15. The NI GPIB-130 can extend the distance up to 300 m through high-speed parallel transmission.
These GPIB extenders use buffered transfer technology to transfer data at the industry's fastest rates while keeping cabling costs to a minimum. Each extender has an error checking scheme to ensure that links are correct. The GPIB-130 extender can reach speeds in excess of 900 KB/s.
