On the SCXI-1531 (Part number: 777696-31) NI module, when both signal lines of the accelerometer float to the ground, the user can refer to the ground switch to configure the channel for this model. This mode prevents the typical mode potential from accumulating through the amplifier input, which can be a source of noise. The basic output rate of the module must not be less than 10 times the maximum transmission capacity set for the channel. In extremely noisy situations, a fairly high output rate may be fundamental. For example, if the user uses three channels with channel transmission speeds of 2.5, 2.5, and 5.0 kHz, the basic scan rate is 50 kHz.

A multiplexing mode is also included and is often used to perform filtering operations on SCXI-1531. Prior to a multiplexed scan operation, the SCXI chassis is immediately modified with a list of module filters that controls which module sends its output to SCXIbus during a scan. The user can influence this list scan to check modules in the chassis in any order, with an optional number of channels per module entry in the list, limited to a total of 512 channels per chassis. The user can also filter any channel on the SCXI-1531. Channels can be arranged in any order, and channels can appear multiple times in a single scan. When multiple scans are performed, the module's list pointer will wrap around and start checking the first channel in the scan list.
