National Instruments SCXI-1321 Offset zero and shunt calibration terminals
The NI SCXI-1321 (Part number: 777687-21) is ideal for applications using strain gauges, RTDS or thermistors. This model is ideal for temperature or voltage applications with a large number of channels. The high voltage terminals feature a shielded design for fast and reliable signal connections. The SCXI-1321 brings zeroing and shunt calibration to SCXI-1121 strain gauge applications, but can only be used with SCXI-1121 module Revision C or later. The NI SCXI-1321 has 18 screw terminals.
There is also a front panel trimmer potentiometer that enables users to manually zero out offset voltage or bridge sensors. Each channel has a shunt calibration circuit that can be controlled by software as a whole. The user can also trigger a switch on the SCXI 1321 terminal to parallel the 301 k ohm shunt resistor with the strain gauge. The zeroing and shunt resistors on the terminals are socket type, so users can easily customize them. The device has a maximum field line gauge of 26-16 AWG, cold-end sensor output, and accuracy of ±10 mV/°C and 1.3 °C, respectively. It has a maximum operating voltage of 300 V (CAT II).
Offset zeroing is a hardware zeroing process. The Wheatstone bridge probe has an initial offset error. Fixing this error will improve measurement accuracy. The zeroing circuit on the SCXI-1321 can be used with quarter-bridge, half-bridge and full-bridge strain gauge arrangements. Each channel has its own zeroing circuit, as well as a specified fine-tuning potentiometer. For example, channel 0 corresponds to potentiometer R1. Channel 1 corresponds to potentiometer R2. Next, channel 2 corresponds to potentiometer R14. Finally, channel 3 corresponds to potentiometer R15.
It has a recommended operating temperature range of 0 to 50 °C, a storage temperature range of -20 to 70 °C, and a non-condensing relative humidity range of 10% to 90%.
