The SCXI-1317 (Part number: 777687-17) is a front-mounted terminal for the SCXI-1521 and SCXI-1521B quarter-bridge strain gauge input modules. SCXI 1317 has 24 channels; The terminal provides three screw terminals for each quarter-bridge strain gauge channel. These channels include: excitation +, analog input, and quarter bridge. The NI SCXI-1317 is shielded to ensure accurate signal connections and can be automatically detected by software.

The following types of hardware are required to run the SCXI-1317: the SCXI-1521 or SCXI-1521B module, the SCXI or PXI/SCXI combination chassis, and the necessary wiring, cable adapters, and quarter-bridge strain gauges for the user's specific application. When using a 2-wire or 3-wire strain gauge for a quarter-bridge signal connection, if the sensor is shielded, then the user can connect the shielding to the GND link on the SCXI 1317.

They can then loosen the stress relief screw and remove the stress relief rod. Then, strip the insulation of the signal line (no more than 0.28 inches). Next, the user must pass the signal line through the stress relief opening. The user can also add insulation or padding if desired. The final step is to place the stripped end of the signal cable completely into the terminal. Users should ensure that there are no bare wires sticking out of the screw terminals, as bare wires increase the chance of short circuits, which increases circuit failure.
