National Instruments SCXI-1306 Wiring terminals
The NI SCXI-1306 (Part number: 779698-01) is intended for use with the SCXI-1503 RTD module. The terminal is designed with a shielded design for fast, simple signal connection and can be easily installed to the front of the module. The SCXI 1306 has 16 pairs of screw terminals for differential input signals and 16 pairs of additional screw terminals for current excitation signals.
The NI SCXI-1306 terminal provides 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire resistance measurements to sensors, including RTDS and thermistors. Each channel can be configured for voltage or resistance measurement. Each channel has two switches that can be used to select the type of measurement. In addition, 16 differential analog channels can be used to complete floating and ground voltage measurements. Thermocouple measurement is a characteristic of floating measurement. For floating or ground voltage measurements, the user can connect the voltage source to the analog input screw terminal. The user can then modify the switch position based on the type of signal they are measuring. When the user measures the floating signal, they can connect the negative input to the internal grounding of the SCXI-1503 RTD module.
One advantage of the NI SCXI-1306 terminals is the integrated temperature sensor. This function can be used for thermocouple cold end compensation. To ensure accurate cold end compensation, users must not hold the SCXI chassis near any extreme temperature difference. NI also recommends averaging a large number of samples to get an accurate reading.
