The NI SCXI-1142 (Part number: 776572-42) modules are suitable for anti-aliasing applications and can also be used for general-purpose signal amplification and filtering. The module has a Bessel filter response, eight channels and can be used with National Instruments E/M series DAQ instruments. Multiplexing and parallel mode are the two modes of operation available on this module.
The 8-order Bessel filter on the SCXI-1142 maintains signal phase integrity and is ideal for applications requiring simultaneous sampling. The filter is a combination of SCF and Continuous time Filter (CTF). SCF technology allows for easy configuration of cutoff frequencies through software. Although, SCFS are sampling systems and therefore subject to the same aliasing effects as digitizers. The hybrid design utilizes a CTF pre-filter to prevent aliasing in the SCF and a CTF post-filter to recreate the sampled waveform.
The SCXI 1142 low-pass filter input module has calibration hardware to eliminate sources of error. The software programmable analog switch can ground the input of the instrumentation amplifier using the automatic input zeroing function for offset error calibration. By using an external reference voltage, users can calibrate the module according to their specific operating environment. In addition, the DC compensation circuit eliminates the offset error of the filter. This ensures excellent DC accuracy, whether or not low-pass filtering is activated. The onboard EEPROM stores the calibration constants in permanent memory, which cannot be changed by the user. NI-DAQ transparently uses calibration constants to adjust the gain error.
