The NI SCXI 1120 (Part number: 776572-20) is an ideal and economical solution for signal conditioning and isolation for a variety of signal types, including: thermocouples, current, voltage, millivolt signals, and 4 to 20 mA sources or 0 to 20 mA process current sources with high common mode voltages. If external excitation is used, the SCXI-1120 can also measure strain gauges, RTDS, and thermistors. The module has 8 isolated input channels with 250 Vrms working isolation, as well as several different input ranges. Channels can be configured individually with jumpers. Each of the eight channels has a configurable low-pass filter of either 4 Hz or 10 kHz. The analog input module also has parallel mode operation for high scan rates. Each of its eight analog input channels has a gain stage with gains of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 250, 500, 1,000, and 2,000; Output range is ±5 V.

To get started with NI SCXI-1120, users need a computer, a DAQ device, or SCXI-1200, and a SCXI-1000, SCXI-1000DC, SCXI-1001, or SCXI-2000 chassis. Users can also choose to use the SCXI terminal/connector assembly. The SCXI-1120 module has two output modes: parallel output mode (all 8 input channels in parallel to 8 DAQ device channels) or multiplexed output mode (8 channels multiplexed to 1 DAQ device channel). The unit comes with a 50-pin ribbon cable rear connector and a 32-pin DIN C external thread front connector (18 screw terminal adapter available). It operates from 0 to 50 °C. For revisions A and B of the SCXI-1120 analog input module, jumper W42 is not used.

When revisions A and B of the module are connected to DAQ devices, users can access MISO lines only in a single chassis. For revision C and later versions of SCXI-1120, jumpers W42 and W43 can be retained at position 1. The device measures 1.2 x 6.8 x 8.0 inches.
