The Emerson/ATson MVME7100 series of VMEbus single-board computers is one of the first VMEbus products to use the system-on-chip MPC864xD processor, providing a growth path for VMEbus customers using the previous generation of VME applications, particularly the MPC74xx processor. System-on-chip implementations provide power/heat dissipation, reliability, and lifecycle benefits that alternative architectures do not.
The Emerson MVME7100 single-board Computer (SBC) helps Oems on industrial, medical, and defense/aerospace VMEbus platforms gain a competitive advantage by adding performance and functionality, while still protecting their essential investments in VMEbus and related technologies. Customers can retain their VMEbus infrastructure (chassis, backplane, and other VMEbus and PMC boards) while improving performance and extending lifecycle. In addition, the extended life cycle of Emerson computing products helps reduce the loss of development and support work due to frequent product replacement.
The combination of a faster processor and the 2eSST VMEbus interface significantly improves performance. New cost-effective peripherals can be easily integrated using the USB interface.
