The Emerson/MOTOROLA MVME3600 and MVME4600 are VME processor modules that provide an outstanding base platform that can be quickly and easily customized for a variety of industry-specific applications. Designed to meet the needs of military, aerospace and industrial automation applications, the MVME3600 and MVME4600 VMEbus board level computers consist of a processor memory module and a basic I/O module, both 6U, assembled into a two-slot brick. This modular architecture allows processor modules to be upgraded, including enough space for multiprocessor implementations, and provides physical space for a wider range of networking and mass storage expansion interfaces. DRAM expansion sandwich supports memory upgrade to ECC DRAM up to 1GB without the need for additional VME slots. The dual processor MVME4600's tightly coupled multiprocessor configuration provides additional computing power for the most demanding tasks, including simulation and database or matrix operations.

Processor I/O docking and PCI expansion

The MVME3600 and MVME4600 processor modules have 64-bit PCI connectivity, allowing for pairing with basic I/O modules. The processor module also has a separate PCI connector to support PCI expansion carriers, such as the MOTOROLA PMCspan.

Memory module

The MVME3600/4600 series features a modular memory design. 64MB of DRAM is soldered to the processor memory module. The additional sandwich array supports additional DRAM from 64MB to 1GB. These RAM201 expansion modules allow for on-site upgrades of memory capacity and do not require additional VME slots.
