Series 8 inherits the innovative style of Series c. This style includes features that facilitate the effective use of control hardware in a system environment. These features include:
Vertical mounting allows for more efficient cabling, as most field cabling applications require access from the top or bottom of the system cabinet.
The "Infosphere" allows for quick visual cues that draw the eye of maintenance technicians to important status information.
• The "tilt" design allows for effective thermal management within the cabinet housing. Since Series 8 allows for a significant increase in cabinet density, an effective thermal management system is essential for high systems

• Input and output circuits are protected from short circuits to mitigate the need for in-line fuses and reduce installation and maintenance costs
Series 8 iota combines multiple functions into a single device:
• Single redundancy configuration
• On-board termination of process signals
• On-board signal adjustment
• Onboard connection to the appropriate network (FTE, I/O LINK)
• Onsite power distribution without external marshalling
• The IOM plugs into IOTA and receives power from IOTA
•IOTA receives power through a cable from the head board.
Series 8 I/O size
