The optional dual cable baseplate supports four PIO channels, but provides separate A/B bus connectors as well as dedicated connectors for optional time strobe inputs.
Fieldbus connections from the optional dual cable baseplate to the standard or compact 200 series FBM require A separate A/B bus cable as well as a dual "D" connection adapter on the FBM baseplate (RH926KW).
The number of FBMS that the FCP280 can support varies depending on the type of fbm used:
200 Series fbm for use only with FCP280 - Each fieldbus port on the FCP280 baseboard can be connected to the baseboard chain via a 2 Mbps HDLC fieldbus, and each chain can connect up to 32 compact or standard 200 series fbm for up to 128 modules.
200 series and 100 Series fbm(dual baud configuration) for use with the FCP280.
The FCP280 can support a total of 128 100 series FBMS (y modules) or competing devices (such as Foxboro DCS system migration FBMS) in one or more substrate chains, with the remaining 128 modules limited to 200 series FBMS, depending on the fieldbus load of the FCP280. For example, the FCP280 can support 64 100 series FBMS and 64 200 series FBMS
FBMs(64 + 64 = 128). For counting purposes, the main fbm and the extended fbm are treated as two FBMS. Similarly, no more than 64 100 series FBMS are allowed on each PIO bus/backplane port. Take a look at the following two figures.
