MQ controllers provide communication and control between field devices and other nodes on the control network. Control policies and system configurations created on earlier DeltaV™ systems can be used with this powerful controller. The MQ controller offers all the features and functionality of an MD Plus controller with the same amount of memory. The control language executed in the controller is described in the Configuration Software Suite product data table.

Increase productivity MQ controllers are just as fast as MD Plus controllers and offer the same configurable memory as MD Plus controllers. Ethernet ports are full-duplex, with a maximum throughput of 100MB/ s. The result is lower CPU utilization and higher control policy capacity.

Automatic I/O detection. The controller can identify all I/O interface channels located on the subsystem. Once the I/O interface is plugged in, the controller knows the general characteristics of the field device managed by that I/O interface. This reduces configuration related worthless engineering.

Connect to electronic wiring and wireless I/O. Starting with DeltaV v14.3, CHARM and wireless devices connected via CHARM I/O cards (CIOC) and Wireless I/O cards (WIOC) can be assigned to MQ controllers. This makes it easier than ever to add I/O to an existing controller by simply adding a CIOC and/or WIOC to the DeltaV area control network

Easy to use full control. The controller manages all control activities for the I/O interface channel. It also manages all communication functions of the communication network. Timestamps, alerts, and trend objects are also managed within the controller. The controller executes all control strategies at an execution speed of up to every 100 milliseconds.

Data protection. All online changes made to the control parameters are automatically stored for later upload to the engineering database. In this way, the system always keeps a complete record of all data that has been changed online.

Advanced operation. The MQ controller handles DeltaV batch processing options as well as advanced control functions.
