The X20CP1586 is a powerful controller for X20 systems. The controller is especially useful for applications that require short loop times, must process large amounts of data, or perform floating-point operations. It has a clock frequency of 1.6 GHz and is equipped with 512 MB DDR2 SDRAM.

USB, Ethernet, POWERLINK, and removable CompactFlash are standard. Standard Ethernet interfaces are capable of handling communications in the gigabit range. For higher real-time network performance, the onboard POWERLINK interface supports polling Response chain mode (PRC).
