The 1747-L553 is an SLC 5/05 processor for the SLC 500 Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) platform. The controller has the highest memory in the SLC 5/05 category at 64 KB of memory. It integrates an RS32 Sub-D 9-pin connector for point-to-point communication with a locally installed human machine interface (HMI) or programming workstation. It also has integrated Ethernet, which is ideal for long distance communication, with transmission speeds of 10/100 mbps for at least 100 meters. It's also ideal for connecting to multiple devices at once. These two (2) ports can also be used simultaneously without affecting the logic execution ability of the processor.
The controller is ideal for medium to large scale applications, with control requirements ranging from manual to automatic control of discrete or analog loops, as well as complex control techniques utilizing a large number of embedded instructions. It can be used in factory automation, process automation, and even for motion and position control requirements.
It is also capable of sending messages to other Allen-Bradley PLC platforms, such as PLC 5, CompactLogix, and ControlLogix, over specified communication protocols. Although integrated with Ethernet and RS232 ports, the processor can install communication adapters such as Remote I/O (RIO), Data Highway Plus (DH+), DeviceNet, and DH485.
It can be installed on any SLC 500 chassis. This processor module has a fixed slot allocation for slot zero (0).
