Allen-Bradley 1756-CN2R is a ControlLogix communication module that is part of the Logix controller platform. This module is primarily used to establish connections in a redundant ControlNet network topology, as it has two (2) BNC ControlNet ports. The module occupies a single slot in the black box, can be installed into any available slot in a standard chassis, such as 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, 1756-A17, and is used with a standard ControlLogix power supply. In particular, 1756-PA72/C, 1756-PA75/B, 1756-PB72/C, 1756-PB75/B, 1756-PC75/B, 1756-PH75/B and redundant power supplies, such as 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R, 1756-PSCA2. The ControlNet network is a multi-node communication network that utilizes coaxial cable trunks, with nodes connected at the trunk using lead-in cables. This particular module is connected to the network using 1786-RG6 four-shielded RG6 coaxial cable. The 1756-CN2R supports transfer speeds of up to 5 Mbps. In addition to the dual ControlNet ports, the 1756-CN2R is equipped with one (1) USB port that supports a full speed transfer rate of 12 Mbps. It cannot be used for data communication purposes. This module is suitable for implementing distributed I/O topologies because it covers up to 1000 meters per segment and can be easily extended by using Repeaters as signal enhancers for ControlNet segments longer than 1000 meters.
