The 1756-M16SE is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix SERCOS integrated motion control module. The SERCOS interface module is the link between the ControlLogix platform and the intelligent servo drive. The 1756-M16SE is a caseless (open) controller and digital driver interface that enables fast real-time serial communication via its noise-resistant fiber optic cable.

The 1756-M16SE has 16 axes per module and 32 axes per controller. Its SERCOS data rate is 4 or 8 Mb/s, its SERCOS cycle time is 1 ms (up to 4 drives at 4 Mb/s), and up to 4 drives (up to 8 Mb/s) is 0.5 ms. The control mode adjusts speed, torque and accuracy. The current consumption of the 1756-M16SE is 760 mA at 5V DC and 2.4 mA at 24V DC.

The 1756-M16SE interface module uses one digital fiber link, eliminating the need for up to 18 digital wires per axis. The user can send detailed drive status information from the drive to the controller and vice versa.
