The Allen-Bradley 1756-L7SP is part of the GuardLogix controller product family. This controller is used exclusively as a partner controller, in conjunction with the main GuardLogix security controller. It has no dedicated memory, as the memory of the 1756-L7SP corresponds to that of the main controller. Specifically, the 1756-L7SP is compatible with the 1756-L71S, 1756-L71SK, 1756-L72S, 1756-L72SK, 1756-L73S, 1756-L73SK master controller, and is compatible with energy storage modules, such as the 1756-SPESMNSE capacitor energy storage module. For Safety Partner and 1756-SPESMNRM, this is a non-removable energy storage module.


The 1756-L7SP is a two-slot wide controller with current consumption of 5 mA@ 1.2 VDC and 800 mA@ 5.1 VDC. It has a rated power consumption of 2.5W and a heat dissipation of 8.5 BTU/ hour. The module has an isolation voltage rating of 30V (continuous), basic insulation, USB port to system, and was type-tested for 60 seconds at 980V AC.


The 1756-L7SP is installed on any available slot in the 1756 chassis, however, it must be installed next to the main controller to form a 1oo2 architecture for systems requiring safety integrity Level 3 (SIL 3), performance level e (PLe) functionality. 1756-L7SP compatible chassis 1756-A4, 1756-A4K, 1756-A7, 1756-A7K, 1756-A10, 1756-A10K, 1756-A13, 1756-A13K, 1756-A17, 1756-A1756-A17K, The standard power supply is 1756-PA50, 1756-PA72, 1756-PA72K, 1756-PA75, 1756-PA75K, 1756-PB50, 1756-PB72, 1756-PB75, 1756-PB75K.


The 1756-L7SP Security Partner controller has an operating temperature requirement of 0 °C < Ta < +60 °C (+32 °F < Ta < +140 °F) and a storage temperature specification of -40 to +85 °C (-40 to +185 °F). The relative humidity is 5-95% non-condensing.


It has a backplane current consumption of 800mA at 5.1V DC and a backplane current consumption of 5mA at 1.2V DC, and can emit 2.5W of heat during operation, with a heat dissipation of 8.5 BTU/hr. The 1756-L7SP offers 30V voltage isolation, basic insulation type, tests for 1 minute at 980V AC, between the USB 2.0 port and the system, it uses a circuit cable with a 3-USB port line category. It uses standard EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet secure communication options and uses Relay ladder logic (RLL), structured text, and Sequential Function Diagram (SFC) programming languages. It is installed in any available slot in the 1756 ControlLogix case and occupies 2 slots, right next to the main controller. It has North American T4A temperature codes, ATEX and IECx T4 temperature codes, and comes in a factory-designed open housing. It operates in a temperature range of 0-60 degrees Celsius (32-140 degrees Fahrenheit) and an ambient relative humidity range of 5-95%, with no condensation. It has an operating shock rating of 30G and can withstand 500G operating vibration from 2-10Hz.
