The 1756-L73S is an Allen-Bradley GuardLogix 5570 programmable automation controller (PAC). The controller has the ability to perform standard and safety functions. Standard functions are performed by the controller itself, while safety functions are communicated separately to the partner controller with catalog number 1756-L7SP. This master controller is required to enable the GuardLogix controller security features and must be installed in a directly available slot next to the 1756-L73S.
The 1756-L73S comes with 8 MB of standard user memory, 4MB of safe memory, and 0.98 MB of I/O memory. It comes with a 1756-SD1 secure digital (SD) card with a memory capacity of 1 GB of non-volatile memory. The 1756-L71S embedded communication port is a single USB communication port, which can only be used for programming, hardware configuration and online editing, and cannot be used for industrial communication. With embedded memory capabilities, the 1756-L73S supports up to 128,000 discrete I/O points and 4,000 analog I/O points.
The 1756-L73S is an environmentally friendly processor as it is fitted with the 1756-ESMCAP capacitor energy storage module, which is removable and pre-installed in each controller.
