The Allen-Bradley 1756-IA16 is a ControlLogix I/O module. The AC digital input module is isolated and has a display that displays input and communication status as well as module health. The module's input channels are individually isolated and these channels are also individually rated for 125 volts continuous input. This module connects directly to the ControlLogix chassis. Removable terminal housings compatible with this module are 1756-TBCH and 1756-TBS6H.


Input Voltage and Voltage tage The class of this module is 120 volts AC. The current consumption at 24 volts is 3 MA and the current consumption at 5.1 volts is 125 MA. The module operates in a voltage range of 79 to 132 volts AC and 47 to 63 Hertz. The maximum power consumption at 60 degrees Celsius is 4.9 watts and the heat dissipation is 16.71 BTU per hour. The maximum inrush current is 250 mA and the total backplane power is 0.71 watts. The screw to backplane input delay times are as follows: The maximum hardware delay is 10 ms plus the user selectable filtering time (1 or 2 ms), the maximum hardware delay time is 8 ms, and the user selectable filtering time is 9 to 18 ms. The maximum turn-off stage voltage is 20 V and the maximum current is 2.5 MA. For the on-state, the minimum is 5 mah at 79 AC and ranges from 47 to 63 Hz, while the maximum is 15 mah at 132 AC and ranges from 47 to 63 Hz.


The Allen-Bradley 1756-IA16I is a sixteen (16) channel discrete AC input module with independently isolated channels. The module operates at a nominal input voltage with a tage of 120VAC and a frequency of 50/60 Hz. This module is installed in a local or remote I/O ControlLogix chassis.


A local ControlLogix chassis is a component that houses the ControlLogix processor, while a remote I/O chassis is a ControlLogix chassis that communicates with the local chassis through a communication adapter.


Programmable logic controllers (PLCS), such as ControlLogix systems, use discrete input modules to connect to processes or machines and receive binary states for each individual input, i.e., OFF and ON. This is necessary because the Allen-Bradley controller starts the logical execution by checking the state of the input, including the signal connected to 1767-IA16I.


This module is compatible with any ControlLogix processor. It is also compatible with any ControlLogix communication adapter for implementing remote I/O applications.


The module uses 36-point detachable terminal blocks (RTB) to connect signals and allows for modular replacement of defective modules without the need for complete rewiring. Since the module's channels are individually isolated, each channel has a separate public channel, which makes the module useful for applications where there is a direct AC public end.


The module has front panel indicators that provide the status of each channel. Whenever the appropriate signal is provided for the channel, a dedicated LED indicator will be activated to confirm that the module has received the signal.
