Allen-Bradley 1756-IA16 is a sixteen (16) channel AC input module for the ControlLogix Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) platform. The module is used to connect discrete signal devices such as switches, auxiliary contacts and similar operating devices with a rated voltage of 120VAC, rated voltage range of 74-132VAC and frequency of 47-63 Hz.1756-IA32


There are two (2) input groups, each of which has eight (8) channels. It comes with a separate channel status LED that can be activated to provide feedback on the status of each channel. The hardware delay time for each input channel is up to 10 ms + filtering time for the OFF to ON signal conversion and up to 8 ms + filtering time for the ON to OFF signal conversion. The user-selectable filtering time for the OFF to ON conversion is 1 ms or 2 ms, and the filtering time for the ON to OFF conversion is 9 ms or 18 ms. The module's cycle update time is 200 μs-750 ms,


The current drawn by the module from the backplane is 100 mA@5.1VDC and 2 mA@24VDC. It consumes a total backplane power of 0.58 W, a maximum power consumption of 5.8 W @ 60 °C (140 °F), and a heat dissipation of 18.41 BTU/hr. The 1756-IA32 has a maximum off state voltage of 20VAC and a maximum off state current of 2.5mA.


Similarly, the minimum on-state current rating is 5 mA@74V AC and the maximum on-state current is 13 mA@132V AC. It can withstand a maximum surge current up to 250 mA.


It has sixteen (16) input channels divided into two (2) groups of eight (8) points each. The 1756-IA16 module operates in a voltage range of 74 to 132 VAC and a frequency of 47 to 63 Hz, while the voltage class and input frequency are 120 VAC and 50/60 Hz, respectively. The module has an input delay time of 10 ms for the filter time of the OFF to ON conversion configuration (user can choose at 1 or 2 ms). For ON-OFF conversion, the hardware delay is up to 8 ms plus filtering time (user can choose 9 or 18 ms). At 5.1 volts DC, the current consumption is 100 mA, and at 24 volts DC there is 2 mA. The backplane has a total power of 0.58 watts and dissipates 5.8 watts of power at 60 degrees Celsius and 18.41 BTU/ hour thermal energy. The maximum off state voltage is 20 volts and the current is 2.5 MA. The 1756-IA16, on the other hand, has conduction currents ranging from a minimum of 74 mah at 5 VAC to a maximum of 132 mah at 13 VAC. The largest surge current recorded was a peak of 250 mA, which decayed to less than 37% in 22 milliseconds without activation.
