The 1785-L30B is an Allen-Bradley controller belonging to the PLC5 controller family. The controller features 32Kwords user memory, two (2)DH+/ remote I/O combination ports, configurable adapters or scanners, and one (1) serial port with support for RS-232, 423, and RS-422A communication standards.
The 1785-L30B supports a large number of I/O devices. It supports up to 1024 I/O devices and can be composed of any combination of discrete and analog input and output devices. In addition, it supports complementary 1024 input and 1024 output devices.
In addition to supporting a large number of I/O devices, the controller enables a remote I/O architecture as it can be connected to up to 28 remote I/O racks. To implement the Remote I/O architecture, integrated communication ports such as DH+ and Remote I/O (RIO) channels can be utilized. In addition, Ethernet interface modules can be added to implement the same architecture on an Ethernet network.
1785-L30B Built-in battery for use when the controller is powered off. The battery maintains user and program data stored in the controller's user memory. It is assigned a BATT indicator LED to report the current charge of the battery. For the 1785-L530B, the battery lasts up to 84 days with 100 percent power off, and 150 days at an operating temperature of 60 degrees Celsius. When the BATT LED is powered on, the battery remains in working condition for 5 days from the first signal. When the battery is completely drained, the contents of the user's memory are maintained unless the controller is powered on. It will only be erased when the power supply is removed and the battery is exhausted.
The 1785-L30B has two built-in ports: Channel 1A and Channel 1B. These ports can be configured as remote I/O scanners, remote I/O adapters, and DH+ communication interfaces. In addition, the 1785-L30B controller offers a 25-pin connector serial port interface. The serial port supports the RS232C standard and can be configured with system protocols such as ASCII and DF1. Full duplex and half duplex master protocols and half duplex slave protocols. An 8-pin mini-DIN connector labeled 1A channel is also available, supporting DH+ connections.
The 1785-L30B has several indicators on the front panel for easy interaction with the user. These indicators are labeled BATT and are used to show the status of the battery. The 1785-l30b has 32,000 words of memory and a backup battery. For program backup, an EEPROM module can be installed in the front panel slot. Memory modules of different capacities are available. The total number of I/ OS (including a combination of local I/ OS and generic remote I/ OS) is 1024 in any combination, or 1024 input and 1024 output complementary. The 1785-L30B can utilize a total of 29 I/O enclosures, 28 of which can be used as general purpose remote I/O enclosures. The backplane has a current load of 1785-L30B and 2.3 amps at 5 volts. The 1785-L30B does not have the ability to connect to an extended local I/O chassis.
