The Allen-Bradley 1771-OZ module is a digital output module for the Allen-Bradley PLC-5 system. The module supports eight normally open outputs. Each relay output status indicator provides control status updates. Each indicator light turns on when the corresponding relay is powered on. The 1771-OZ module can be installed in an empty slot in the 1771 I/O chassis. The module has a maximum rated voltage of 30va at 138 volts AC and 20va at 125 volts DC. The module voltage range is AC RMS 0 ~ 24v and DC RMS 0 ~ 24v. The maximum rated current is 100 mA per output. The DC output is rated at 2.4 watts per output and the AC output is rated at 2.4 Watts per output. The minimum contact load for DC output is 1 MA at 0 to 24 volts, and the minimum contact load for AC output is 1 MA at 0 to 24 volts. The maximum operation and release time is 1 ms. To monitor the operation of the module, 1771-OZ provides a separate status indicator for each channel of the module to indicate the channel power status.
This module requires special consideration, especially during I/O rack power-on and power-off, when the 1771-OZ output channel may temporarily change the operating state due to the "soft start" behavior of the PLC-5 power supply. Series A and B 1771-OZ modules are affected by this feature; However, late release or higher series are not affected by this action of the power supply.
