Allen-Bradley 1771-OBD is a sixteen (16) channel, non-isolated output module that is part of the 1771 product announcement. This module is particularly suitable for the PLC5 product family and is commonly used to power electrical loads powered by DC, such as pilot lamps, relay coils, electromagnetic drive devices and other equipment. It has an output voltage range of 10-60 VDC and a nominal voltage output of 48 VDC.


The output channel of the 1771-OBD is rated 2a, resistance, no more than 8a per module, and 0.2 A per pilot operating output. When the minimum load current of the module is 2.5 mA, the minimum surge current rating for each channel is 4 A output every 10 ms, repeatable every 2 s, and the maximum output every 10 ms is 25 A, repeatable every 2 s.


The on-state voltage drop of the 1771-OBD is 1.5V dc; The maximum off-state leakage current is 0.5mA; The output signal is delayed 0.1 ms for the off to on transition and 0.2 ms for the on to off transition. Except for the 1771-A4 I/O chassis, it can be mounted on any I/O chassis from 1771-A1B to 1771-A4B. It is compatible with the 1771-WH, 1771-WHF, and 1771-WHFB field wiring arms, with a tightening force requirement of 1.0 Nm (9 lb-in) and module keying between 10 and 12/22 and 24. The appropriate signal line range for terminating the output device to each module channel is 0.34-2.5 mm2(22... 14 AWG) Solid or stranded copper wire with an insulation class of 120°C(248°F) or higher and a maximum insulation thickness of 1.2 mm(3/64 inch).


It has a maximum surge current of 4 amps per output for 10 milliseconds and can be repeated every 2 seconds. The 1771-OBD module has a minimum load current of 2.5 mA, a maximum open state voltage drop of 1.5 volts DC, and a maximum off state leakage current of 0.5 mA. The 1771-OBD module has a maximum power consumption of 15.6 W, a maximum heat dissipation of 53.3 BTU/h, a maximum backplane current of 400ma, and a DC voltage of 5v. Connecting or disconnecting the cable without first cutting off the power supply on both sides of the electric field can cause arcing. With an operating temperature range of 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit), a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 degrees Celsius (-40 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit), and a relative humidity range of 5 to 95 percent (non-condensing), the module is a durable device that can withstand many different conditions. The 1771-OBD has an operating shock of 30g(3 pulses, 11ms) and a non-operating shock of 50g(3 pulses, 11ms). In addition, the 1771-OBD has ESD immunity for 4 kV contact discharge and 8 kV air discharge.
