The 1762-IF4 is the Allen-Bradley MicroLogix 1200 with a 4-channel current/voltage analog input module. It has a Delta-Sigma converter and 4 differential (bipolar) inputs. Its analog operating voltage range is -10 to 10 volts DC normal voltage and -10.5 to 10.5 volts DC full scale. Its analog operating current ranges from 4 to 20 mA normal and -21 to 21 mA full scale. This module enhances the functionality of MicroLogix by allowing additional I/O to the system. It requires minimal spacing and can be DIN rail or panel mounted. The module communicates and receives information over a 5-24 volt DC power supply via a 1762 bus interface.
There is a finger safety cover when connecting the input terminals. Flat ribbon cables are used to connect various I/O modules. The 1762-IF4 module supports 2-, 3 -, or 4-wire transmitter configurations. During troubleshooting, the user should always stay away from the device and always check the device for any program changes. The safety circuit should always be connected in series to the main relay.
The 1762-IF4 module shall be installed in a non-hazardous, dry, clean environment, and its circuits shall not exceed Class II overvoltage standards. To avoid damage to the module, avoid electrostatic discharge and remove the power supply. The field-upgradeable flash operating system helps ensure that users are always using the latest features without having to replace any hardware. The amount of I/O can be expanded by using rackless I/O modules. This leads to larger control systems, greater application flexibility and scalability, at lower costs and reduced parts inventory.
The module has four (4) input channels, each configurable to receive current and voltage signals from -21 to 21 mA and -10 to +10VDC, respectively.
The input signal type is selected by the dip switch provided. The received voltage signal is converted by an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) into a binary code stored in an analog input register. The converted data can be formatted as Raw/Proportional and Scale for PID.
If used with MicroLogix 1100, up to four (4) extension modules are allowed, possibly 1764-IF4. If the MicroLogix 1200 is installed, six expansion modules can be connected, and the MicroLogix 1400 can be connected to seven expansion modules.
Expansion modules such as 1764-IF4 are connected to the MicroLogix bus via a supplied ribbon cable connected by pin contacts mounted on the front panel of each module. The installation of this module follows the installation method of the MicroLogix base module, DIN rail or direct panel mounting.
The module measures 90mm(H)x 87mm(D)x 40mm(W), with a height of 110mm 3.54 in including the mounting label.
