The 1756-A13 is an Allen-Bradley ControlLogix chassis. The chassis provides a module shell and 13 module slots for the ControlLogix controller and I/O modules. In addition to providing a mounting slot, the chassis also hosts the electronic circuits that make up the backplane. The backplane distributes the current used by each module to motivate the individual circuits to work properly.
1756-A13 Supports horizontal installation only. When installed, the minimum cabinet size is 60.9 x 76.2 x 20.3 cm (24 x 30 x 8 in) and the weight is 1.90 kg (4.2 lb). It is mounted directly to the case panel by means of the attached mounting brackets located at the top and bottom of the case. Install this chassis at 0... 60 °C (32... 140 °F) for A series and B series chassis, -25... +60 °C (-13... +140 °F) for the C Series chassis. Its operating vibration rating is 2 g @ 10... 500 Hz, working impact rating of 30 g. This case can be used with the Logix 5560, 5570 and 5580 product families.
The backplane current consumption of 1756-A13 is 1.5A@1.2VDC; 4A/4A @ 3.3 volts DC; 15 A/6 A@ 15 A/6 A and 2.8 A/2.8 A@ 24VDC. It has a power consumption of 5.4 watts in an open housing rating.
The chassis backplane distributes power to each module in the chassis by providing a high-speed communication path between modules. It requires a Bulletin 1492 IFM or an RTB to connect all field side wiring. The 1756-A13 standard chassis features removable and live insert (RIUP) functionality for easy maintenance. To prevent replacement errors, it also offers electronic keying.
