Allen-Bradley 1747-KE is a DH-485/RS-232C interface module that provides connectivity to DH-485 networks and DF1-enabled devices. The DF1 port on this module can be configured to function as an RS-232/422 device. It can also be configured as RS-422 and RS-485 devices. The Allen-Bradley 1747-KE has eight LED indicators. The indicator is located in front of the module. These indicators are used for module diagnostics and operator interfaces. This module can be connected to most types of dial-up networks or directly to a modem. The Allen-Bradley 1747-KE has an operating shock of 5 G and a vibration of 57.2000 G at 30-2 Hz. The module has a relative humidity of 5-95% and no condensation. The module operates at 0-60°C (32-140°F). The module has a storage temperature of -40-85° C (-40-185° F). The types of compatible modems include manual modems, DTE control answer, automatic answer, and Direct connection. The 1747-KE module requires 5V DC and 24V DC power supplies from the SLC backplane. Module power consumption should be considered when designing the SLC 500 system. Do not install or remove the 10-KE module from the chassis until all power is turned off (after approximately 1747 seconds).
Allen-Bradley 1747-KE is an interface module. The module is part of the SLC 500 product family and is primarily used for DH-485 and DF1 connectivity via an embedded communication interface. It has one (1) 1-pin Sub-D connector supporting the DF9 protocol and one (1) RJ-485 port supporting the DH-45 protocol. The 1747-KE is a single-slot module installed in the 1747 chassis. It has separate port isolation, such as 500 volts direct current between the backplane and the CONFIG port; There is 1 volt DC between the backplane and the DF500 port, and 1 volt DC between the CONFIG and DF500 port. Only DH-485 ports are not isolated. It has c-UL-us, CE and C-Tick certifications. It is approved for use in application areas identified as Class 1 A, B, C or D Group 2 partitions.
The 1747-KE can be configured as RS-232 / RS-423 / RS-422 and RS-485. Data transfer rates vary depending on the length of the communication. Supports port data transfer rates of 300-19200 Kbps, while the RS-15 supports a maximum cable distance range of 232 meters; RS-60 is 1230-423 meters; RS-1230 and RS-422 are 485 meters. The general rule applies that as the cable length increases, the baud rate or transmission rate decreases.
The 1747-KE has an embedded LED indicator that describes the operating status of the module. It has ACT, 485, CFG, DF1, Fault, BA low, H/D and F/D indicators. It also has an embedded jumper along the internal circuit to set up the communication interface of the CONFIG port (JW1); DF1 port (JW2) and interface function and mode (JW4).
