About 1768-L45S
The 1768-L45S is a programmable logic controller (PLC) manufactured by Allen-Bradley. The controller belongs to the 1768 Compact GuardLogix product family. The controller has integrated safety features and is designed to operate in safe processes below Safety Integrity Level (SIL) 3 and performance level (e), where the module safety state is power off. The probability of failure measured in PFD and PFH, system reaction time Settings, and functional verification tests to SIL 3/PLe standards are some of the safety requirements supported by this module. The 1768-L45S Compact GuardLogix controller has the equivalent of an integrated 3.0 MB standard memory (for standard controller functions) and 1.0 MB safe memory (for security applications). It has an embedded RS232 communication port and is designed to communicate with various communication protocols and Settings, such as DF1 point-to-point, DF1 master, DF1 slave, DF1 radio modem, User (channel 0 only), and DH-485. Serial communication is limited to 15.2 meters or 50 feet. As the length of the serial communication cable increases, the baud rate or communication data rate must be configured to a slower speed. When set to REM mode, the controller allows programming and online editing, and continues to execute logic. The 1769-L45S can be installed locally with the 1768 I/O, communication, and dedicated modules. Up to four (4) local modules are supported. Up to three (3) Extended I/O Banks for extended I/O can be installed, of which up to thirty (30) 1769 compact I/O modules can be installed to act as remote I/O modules. The Common Industrial Protocol (CIP) is used to connect secure input and output devices over an Ethernet I/P network. Using this communication protocol, the control and monitoring of the security controller can be established. The controller can also be used with the 1768-ENBT Ethernet communication module (Series A, Revision 3) and the 1768-CNB ControlNet communication module (Series A, Revision 3). The backplane current requirements of the 1768-L45s are 2.1A@24V, the 1768 backplane current output is 5.6A@5.2V, and the 1769 backplane current output is 2.0A@5.2V. The total current output of the 1768 and 1769 backplanes is 7.6A@5.2V. The power consumption of the module is 9.5W and the power consumption is 50.4W. The physical dimensions of the module are 131.6 x 90 x 121.8 mm (5.18 x 3.55 x 4.80 inches) and the weight is 0.45 kg (15.9 ounces).
