The 1794-IRT8XT module was designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley in their FLEX I/O series for use as thermocouple, RTD and millivolt input modules. The 1794-IRT8XT module is the newer model in the Allen-Bradley FLEX I/O module family. It should not be used in industrial environments with corrosive atmospheres and large amounts of liquids because it does not have a protective conformal coating. The module has 8 analog inputs. It can accept millivolt source inputs, thermocouple inputs, and 2-wire, 3-wire, and 4-wire RTD inputs.

The Allen-Bradley 1794-IRT8XT FLEX I/O module has useful operational features, such as support for long thermocouple wiring, support for grounded and ungrounded thermocouples, good common-mode rejection, and detection of overrange, underrange, and wire break conditions. It has isolation between the user's 24 volt DC voltage source and the user I/O, as well as between the user side and the system side of the module. As long as the B Series module is used with ControlNet, Ethernet/IP, and remote I/O communication networks, the module is accepted on the terminal base of the A Series module without triggering an Electronic Key mismatch warning.
