The Allen-Bradley 1756-RM is a ControlLogix enhanced redundancy module. It is part of the Programmable Automation Controller (PAC) for controller redundancy. It comes with one (1) LC fiber optic single-mode connectors and module status leds, such as PRI, COM, and OK, indicating system redundancy and the health of module operation.

Allen-Bradley 1756-RM is a ControlLogix redundant module. This module can only be used with the ControlLogix platform to enable controller redundancy. It manages the connection of two (2) identical controllers installed in the same rack with the same components and configuration. It provides redundant system monitoring as well as module health through embedded LED displays such as PRI, COM and OK.

The 1756-RM has been released as series A and B. The series is basically an enhancement of the previous series, however, 1756-RM with different series can coexist in a redundant configuration. It is highly recommended to install the same series for maximum operability of redundant Settings. When used with redundant modules from the same series, speeds of up to 100Mbps can be achieved.

The 1756-RM comes with one (1) single-mode LC fiber optic connector. It requires the use of 1756-RMCx redundant cables to synchronize the operation of redundant controller pairs. The controller can be configured using the Redundancy configuration tool to set the redundancy and the Studio 5000 Logix Designer to configure the overall parameters of the module.

This module is compatible with 1756-A4, 1756-A7, 1756-A10, 1756-A13, 1756-A17 ControlLogix chassis, 1756-PA72, 1756-PA75, 1756-PB72, 1756-PB75 standard power supplies and 1756-PA75R, 1756-PB75R, 1756-PSCA2 Redundant power supply. It is a single slot module that can be installed into any available slot in the case. The redundancy pair must have the same configuration as the partner chassis.

The 1756-RM redundancy module consumes 4 mA at 1.2 volts DC, 1.2 MA at 5.1 volts DC, and 120 mA at 24 volts DC. The device is installed in the case and can be installed in any slot. The 1756-RM module has a power consumption of 9 watts and heat dissipation of 31 BTU per hour. This ControlLogix comes with an open housing with a T4 temperature code. In terms of the physical characteristics of the module, it weighs about 0.29 kg or 0.64 pounds and is small in size.
