The Woodward Model 8235-360 is one of the models in the ProAct and ProAct Plus series of actuators and drives. This model is used with PISC III actuators. When executed during normal operation, the actuator will run in the range of 18 to 32 VDC, and when started or transient, the model will run at 8-40 VDC for at least one minute. When installing, the hardware needs to be attached as well as the brackets required to support the weight of the throttle assembly and must withstand the vibrations associated with engine installation.
When operating the 8235-360 model with the selected governor and troubleshooting errors occur, any problems with the governor can be corrected by being careful and repeating the calibration procedure. If needed, try to isolate the governor from the engine to assess whether there is a problem occurring inside the governor, rather than the load on the engine or the engine itself. Any failure with the governor usually occurs after installation.
If any adjustments need to be made to the 8235-360 or PISC III actuators, they can be made via the ProAct ISC (Integrated Speed Control) service tool. The tool, which runs on a personal computer, will communicate with the PISC via a serial connection, and the tool will disconnect when the controls are not in use.
While the PISC III model can be used to start an engine stop, please note that it should not be the primary stop mechanism.
