The unit is part of Woodward's family of digital synchronizers and load control equipment DSLC modules. These modules are developed and produced for the control and operation of many types of three-phase alternators.

The DSLC series offers several advantages over other similar devices. The compact, integrated design reduces the number of connections to synchronizer, load control and automatic load control. The amount of functionality available in these units reduces the amount of space taken up by redundant individual modules.

The 9905-708 DSLC unit is fitted with a standard handheld programmer. This allows the user to set up generator controls before the system starts, reducing calibration and installation time. It allows the operator to monitor and troubleshoot the generator's contact switches and input/output.

The 9905-708 has a standard operating mode. Isolated bus mode communicates over the local working network and distributes active and reactive loads proportionally. The common parallel mode measures the actual load on the generator and adjusts the speed control to match the set base load.

Standard operating specifications include a temperature range of -40 to 70 degrees Celsius (-40 to 158 degrees Fahrenheit). The storage temperature range is wider, from -55 to 105 degrees Celsius (-67-221 degrees Fahrenheit).
