The controller is a Woodward DSLC digital synchronizer and load control unit with part number 9905-368. The device is a microprocessor-based control for parallel, synchronous, loading and unloading of three-phase generator sets. It is designed for use with Woodward speed controllers and automatic voltage regulators (or other compatible devices). Part 99005-368 is for applications that do not require integrated power factor or process control. It is a reduction of the upgrade level DSLC part number and therefore does not have power factor control or process control functions.

The 9905-368 provides phase matching or slip frequency synchronization. For both methods, the actual slip frequency and circuit breaker delay value are used to predict the minimum phase difference between the generator and the bus when the actual circuit breaker is closed. The controller has automatic dead bus closure function, where only one DSLC control is granted dead bus closure permission through locking technology on the communication network.
