The SPM-A synchronizer, or module 9907-029, is one of the more advanced units in the Woodward SPM-A family. These devices are designed to properly manage and precisely parallel frequencies and phases while biasing speed levels. These devices have fully adjustable parameters and dynamics. These dynamics need to change when connecting to a particular engine. For smaller engines, the dynamics must be set to a fast speed, while larger turbomachinery, such as diesel engines as well as gas and steam turbines, require a slower dynamic setting. The design specifications of this unit are similar to the other unit model 9905-001. The frequency range that the 9907-029 can handle is the common SPM-A range, which is 50 to 60 Hz. The phase Angle is limited to plus or minus 10 degrees for relief when matching angles.
