The Woodward 8272-273 is an outdated SPM synchronizer. In order to power the device, connections may have to be made at terminals 2 and 5 to obtain 115 volts AC, and additional jumpers established at terminals 2 and 4 to achieve 230 volts AC. The unit uses a 3074-305 B PCB and is packaged in a mountable sheet metal case. The device weighs about 5 pounds in transit.

The dimensions of the device are as follows, a width of twelve and a quarter inches, a depth of eight and a half inches, and a height of one and a half inches. On the surface of the 8272-273, there is only one light-emitting diode (LED) marked as an enabled LED.

A key feature of the 8272-273 synchronizer is the ability to be used as a single unit synchronizer, which allows the synchronizer connected on the selected generator to be separately parallel to the bus.
