The Woodward 723 Digital Control Model 9906-131 is programmed and adjusted using an external menu-based handheld programmer (or other ASCII character computer terminal with an RS-422 serial port) that is connected to one of the device's serial ports. The LONTalk protocol is another digital communication option that is commonly used with modules such as RTD, thermocouple, analog, and discrete I/O.
The configured set points are saved in the controller's permanent memory, avoiding reliance on an external power source to retain data. The Woodward 723 controller also monitors the processor, memory and reference power supply through integrated self-diagnostics.
Configurable features and 723 accessories provide options to extend the 9906-131's monitoring and control capabilities, including engine monitoring. In addition to the optional LonTalk-compatible Woodward products, the 723 controller can be connected to Modbus master devices such as Human machine interface (HMI), supports the use of LinkNet nodes, and can be connected to digital synchronizers and Load control (DSLC).
