Section 8301-1146 is Woodward Nile Marine generator control. Woodward Governor has released this control in its 723PLUS series of digital controls. The 8301-1146 control system complies with international dredging specifications. Control functions of the Woodward 8301-1146 control system include speed sensing, speed control, speed reference, alarm, fuel limiter, and sag /KW control. Speed sensing is accomplished by up to two MPUs or proximity probes.
When the speed signal detects a speed lower than 10 or higher than 2000, the speed sensor fault is locked. Fault detection is overridden during shutdown and startup to prevent false failures. Each 8301-1146 speed sensor can be individually set to a secondary or primary alarm in case of failure.
Overspeed failures always emit a major alarm, but other primary and secondary alarms can be configured according to the needs of the application. The I/O signals that can be set to no alarm, secondary alarm, or primary alarm are speed sensor #1, speed sensor #2, load sensor input, remote speed reference input, and remote load reference input.
The 723PLUS 8301-1146 control system has many configurable parameters and can be programmed by connecting a Woodward handheld programmer to the controller's RS-422 communication serial port.
