The 8280-465 is the high voltage (90 to 150 Vdc, nominal 22 A) model in the Woodward 723PLUS series of digital speed controllers. This model is intended for variable speed applications to control the speed of a reciprocating engine. Low-voltage versions are also available (part number 8280-465; 18-40 Vdc, nominal 7 A).

The 723PLUS controller has a two-speed signal input. These inputs can be used for both MPUs, provided the speed input frequency is in the range of 400 Hz to 15 kHz. Alternatively, two proximity switches can be used instead. In this case, the speed input frequency range should be 30 Hz to 15 kHz.
