For applications requiring magnetic pickers (MPUs) or proximity switches, Part 8280-339 provides the flexibility to use either option. For steady-state speed control, the minimum frequency is 30 Hz, but the speed input frequency range does vary between two-speed detection methods. The MPU has a range of 400 Hz to 15 kHz, while the proximity switch has a range of 30 Hz to 15 kHz.

The 8280-339 features multiple configurable analog and discrete I/ OS. This includes 8 discrete inputs, 4 analog inputs, 3 discrete outputs, and 3 analog outputs. Analog I/O is rated at 0.5% of full scale and load sharing input is rated at 1.0% of full scale. The eight discrete inputs on this controller have a response time of 10 ms ±15%.

A variety of accessories are available for the 8280-339 controller, including Woodward's handheld programmer (part number 9907-205). I/O and set points are configured through this programmer (a serial port connected to the device). The programmer is a menu-driven system, so managing the controller is simple even for users who don't have much programming knowledge.
