The 8280-208 can be used in Marine applications to regulate the load and speed of medium and high speed diesel engines. This includes mechanically combined twin-engine operation with elastic couplings.

The 8280-208 has a number of features that make it a multifunctional controller. This Woodward 723 control model has several fuel limiting features such as torque fuel limit, starting fuel limit, and manifold or external fuel limit. It also features soft load/unload functionality, as well as single-throttle operation of both engines when the system is in clutch operation.

723 Digital Marine speed control unit 8280-208 has many I/ OS. A two-speed inductive input provides a redundant speed signal via a magnetic pickup (MPU) or proximity switch.
